Credit card?

Q) I have a visa credit card that I plan to pay off in full (~$8,000) is there any secrets that will make the payoff cheaper, (the APR is high) What I mean if I called the company and asked for a lower APR would the payoff be cheaper? or if I do a balance transfer? This is my only and first credit card so I dont know if theres anything I should know when getting ready to pay it off in full. *Please only mature educated answers only* Yes I am going to pay it off at once not monthly.

A) If you pay it off in full the APR doesn't matter. You pay interest on how much you owe. After you pay it off you owe nothing. For instance I never even care what the APR is on my credit cards, I can't even tell you what they are. The reason is that I pay off anything I have put on them during the month in full. The interest charges are for anything you hold on you card past that month payment. What I look for in a card is one that charges me no fees, and one that will give me stuff, and I prefer the ones that give me money. So I can actually go through the year buying stuff that I need and not have to really take money out of my account until the end of the month, and also I can then at times request for them to send me "dividends" that I have built up from in time. Not bad, they pay me to use their card. So are the credit card companies losing on me? Hardly most people don't realize that the places where you bought the item has to pay a certain percentage to the credit card company. If you choose to maintain a balance on your credit card and pay them interest that is just extra (lost extra) money in their pockets. Transferring to another card implies that you are not going to pay it off, that you are simply trying to move it from one card that charges more to another that charges less. A couple more things. Now that you are paying it off try not to have to leave anything on the card after the monthly payment or you will get back into the same situation where you are paying them. Second don't close the credit card account. Even if you don't want to use it, or get another card. One of the thing that is in your credit score is how long you keep cards (even if you don't use them). So even if you aren't going to use it, you can cut the card up (if you are tempted to use it) and just leave the account open (but only if they don't charge an anual fee).

will it be cheaper for me to write a convience check for $1900 on my credit card or to get a loan?

Q) my credit cards cash apr is 11.15% (prime + 2.9%) i dont know how to calculate the fees added onto the $1900. or if i get a loan a 24 month intrest is about $500

A) just pay cash
